Winemaking:
Lyrarakis Liatiko Aggelis is grown in old vineyards from the 1930s, with vines planted on native Liatiko rootstock, ensuring an authentic expression of the terroir of eastern Crete. The low yield of the vineyard results in small grapes with high flavor intensity. The grapes are fermented almost whole in open oak barrels, respecting the natural microflora of the region to preserve the unique characteristics of the fermentation. The wine matures for almost four months in nine-year-old oak barrels, which contributes to its complexity and character.
Tasting Notes:
This wine has a light ruby color and complex aromas of ripe red fruits, fresh figs and a touch of geranium. Subtle apple and earthy notes complete the aromatic profile. On the palate, it is balanced, with fresh acidity and intense tannins, providing a finish of ripe fruits and an earthy touch that highlights the richness of the Cretan terroir.
Harmonization:
Perfect to accompany grilled dishes from Greek and Mediterranean cuisine, such as roast meats, grilled lamb and dishes with sauces based on olive oil and herbs.
Serving Temperature: 15° - 17°C
