CANAVA CHRISSU
Kanava Chrissu winery, located on the legendary island of Santorini, is one of the most traditional wineries in the region, deeply rooted in the island’s unique culture and terroir. With a history dating back several generations, Kanava Chrissu is owned by the Chrysou family, who, in collaboration with renowned winemaker Yiannis Tselepos, have been working to revitalize the ancient winery since 2014. This partnership combines Tselepos’ expertise with the Chrysou family’s dedication to exploiting the family vineyards located in Pyrgos, Emporio and Megalochori.
The winery’s vineyards are located in Santorini’s volcanic soils, which give the wines a distinct minerality and balanced acidity. The island’s dry and windy climate conditions, along with the traditional method of growing vines in baskets (kouloura), protect the vines and concentrate the grapes’ flavors, resulting in high-quality wines.
Kanava Chrissu uses both traditional winemaking techniques, passed down from generation to generation, and modern methods to ensure the excellence of its wines. In particular, the white wines made from Assyrtiko are widely recognized for their complexity, freshness and longevity.
