KANAKARIS WINERY

NOTES Rosé Roditis / Mavro Kalavritinó

Dry Rosé Wine

Protected Geographical Indication PGI Peloponnese

Variety : 50% mountainous Roditis and 50% Mavro Kalavrytinó from the slopes of Aigialeia.

Location : The hilly vineyards of the Aigialeia wine region in the northwest Peloponnese.

Soil : Clayey-sandy.

Winemaking Method : Careful selection of grapes: the mountain Roditis and the Mavro Kalavrytino, which is native only to this region. The grapes are hand-picked when they are in good health and at the ideal level of maturity. They are transported to the winery in small 10 kg plastic boxes. They are refrigerated for 24 hours and vinified together. After co-extraction at a very low temperature, reaching up to 8ºC for 24 days, the must is separated from the skins with light pressure. Fermentation continues at a low temperature, up to 15ºC. Finally, the wine is stored for maturation in stainless steel tanks. Bottling under an inert gas atmosphere.

Personality : A modern and attractive rosé wine, full of aromas of citrus fruits, red berries and flowers. Velvety and refreshing on the palate. Ideally pairs with pizza, pasta, Asian cuisine and light Mediterranean cuisine based on olive oil.

Best served at: 12-14°C

Awards and ratings : Gold Medal - Frankfurt International Trophy (Vintage 2018) Bronze Medal - Thessaloniki International Wine Competition (2018) 87 points, Robert Parker | The Wine Advocate, Issue: June 2020
